Grant Writer
The Grant Writer will report to the Development Manager and will be the lead writer for letters of interest, concept notes, proposals, reports, and other written materials. The Grant Writer will have experience creating content targeted at private foundations, government, and institutional donors, and/or corporate philanthropic entities. Working with the Development Manager and collaborating with other team members across the organization, the Grant Writer will be responsible for the writing process, including the planning and submission processes. An excellent storyteller, the Grant Writer will articulate NHC’s history, impact, and vision to important audiences.
Essential job duties:
- Comprehend, write about, and persuasively position wide-ranging and technical scientific and educational research content, and move rapidly from one deep technical proposal to another.
- Write grant proposals in accordance with foundation, corporation or government standards and requirements.
- Author proposal drafts for letters of interest, concept notes, reporting, and proposals, and collaborates across teams to gather and include relevant inputs and necessary data into each piece.
- Resolve complex, technical, administrative, and other problems or risks associated with developing proposals.
- Work with a grant writing coach to identify and assess new and diverse funding opportunities for specific projects and research grant opportunities that fit NHC’s mission and programs.
- Continually improve skills and build relationships by attending funder RFP meetings, round tables, grant workshops, etc.
- Work collaboratively with NHC staff to develop grant outcomes and deliverables, where applicable.
Education and experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree is required.
- At least 3-5 years of experience in grant writing is required, preferably within the Pacific Northwest, with healthcare related organizations.
- A combination of education and/or experience may be qualifying.
- Familiarity with local, state, and Federal (e.g., HRSA) grant programs is a plus.
