Revenue Cycle Specialist
The Revenue Cycle Specialist supports all aspect of the revenue cycle as needed, with an emphasis on customer service, staff support, claims research, data entry and credentialing.
Essential job duties:
- Performs data entry, including patient registration, charge entry, and miscellaneous projects.
- Identifies, corrects, and tracks registration errors.
- Troubleshoots all aspects of patient collection, from clinic cash handling, to statements, to sliding scale verification and research.
- Receives and processes patient questions and complaints.
- Reviews and addresses internal questions regarding patient registration and medical billing.
- Understands and applies diverse revenue cycle priorities and policies, ranging from FQHC requirements, managed care rosters, community grant programs and more.
- Learns and applies various billing and coding principles that affect patient costs, claim denials, and various clinical and financial reports.
- Creates, tracks, and maintains insurance portal logins for all staff.
Education and experience:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; Associates degree preferred.
- Two or more years of experience with health insurance in medical office setting, with familiarity in medical billing terminology required.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records, EPIC preferred.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel required.
