NHC Board Stands United Amidst Federal Healthcare Cuts, Pledges Continued Care for Vulnerable Communities
PORTLAND, OR., April, 10, 2025 – In response to the federal government’s announcement of $880 billion in cuts to healthcare funding, the NHC Board of Directors reaffirms our commitment to protecting the communities we serve and the programs and staff that support them.
NHC is acting swiftly to assess and prepare for any potential impact on our operations and the patients who depend on us for care. These cuts could seriously threaten healthcare systems nationwide and drastically change how healthcare systems operate, including community-based organizations like NHC that serve patients in most need.
The Board fully supports CEO Jeri Weeks and the NHC Executive Leadership Team (ELT). We have met to assess the potential implications of these proposed reductions and are united in our approach. Together, we are taking immediate steps to ensure NHC is positioned to navigate the evolving landscape with resilience and foresight.
While the long-term impact remains uncertain, we will continue to meet regularly to evaluate and make informed, strategic decisions to safeguard NHC’s mission and future.
We deeply thank our staff, partners, and the community for their continued trust and dedication. The Board remains steadfast in its responsibility to guide NHC forward with transparency, collaboration, and purpose.
