Important Safety Notice: TRUE METRIX Blood Sugar Meters

If you use a TRUE METRIX blood sugar meter at home, please read this notice carefully.

Which meters does this affect?

This notice is about these three meters:

  • TRUE METRIX
  • TRUE METRIX AIR
  • TRUE METRIX GO

If you use a different meter, you do not need to take any action. Not sure what meter you have? Call us at (503) 941-3033, and we can help.

What is the issue?

These meters may show an E-5 error message in two situations: when your blood sugar is very high (over 600 mg/dL), or when there is a problem with the test strip. The concern is that the E-5 message does not always make it clear which one is happening.

The FDA recommends switching to a different meter as soon as possible. Until you get a new meter, you can still use your TRUE METRIX. Follow the steps below.

What to do if you see an E-5 message on a meter

  1. Wash your hands
  2. Retest with a new test strip
  3. Check how you are feeling

If you have E-5 and any of these symptoms, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room right away:

  • Feeling very tired
  • Peeing more than usual
  • Feeling very thirsty
  • Blurry vision
  • Feeling sick or confused

These can be signs that your blood sugar is dangerously high.

If you do NOT have symptoms:

Retest with a new test strip. If E-5 shows again, contact Trividia Health (the maker of your meter) for help:
