Making Vision Care More Accessible for Our Neighbors
For many people, getting an eye exam or a new pair of glasses can be difficult when cost,
transportation, or other barriers stand in the way. That’s why partnerships that bring care
directly to our patients can make such a lasting impact.
Recently, Neighborhood Health Center partnered with OHSU’s Casey Eye Institute to bring
its mobile eye clinic to NHC’s Oregon City Medical Office. During the event, 11 NHC patients
received vision screenings, nine will receive glasses at no cost, and three were referred for
additional eye care.
By bringing these services directly to our patients and providing them at no cost, this
partnership helped make essential vision care more accessible for people who might
otherwise struggle to get it.
Making connections like this is an important part of NHC’s commitment to whole-person
care. It takes collaboration across our care teams and with community partners to identify
patients who could benefit, connect them with services, and help remove barriers along the
way.
